Hey everyone, I’m a college student with a pretty small budget so I’m looking for an affordable video camera that has good quality. I’ve researched many cameras that would be in my price range, but the reviews seem to be all over the place on whether it’s good or bad. So at this point, any suggestions would be a huge help, thanks!

Hi Kyler,

If you could save a $100 more you’d be able to enter DSLR space with Nikon D3100 with kit lens I believe. Best option would be Canon simply because of the Magic Lantern, but for a $500 it’s a good buy in my opinion :)

Good luck with your choice, let us know what you’ll go for!

Steve,

Thank you for your input. I’ll make sure to check the D3100 out and I’ll let you know what I end up getting as soon as I know! :)

I actually have a question about that camera. Do you know how long you can film with it?

Hey again Kyler,

If I’m not mistaken it’s 10 minutes :) Make sure to check out some vimeo/youtube tests, I remember people pulling out great images with D3100.

Glad I could help!
